Indian government has banned 18
over-the-top (OTT) platforms for hosting “obscene, vulgar and even
pornographic” material despite repeated warnings. The Ministry of Information
and Broadcasting (I&B) has blocked access to these platforms, along with
their associated websites, mobile apps and social media handles, citing
violations of Indian laws. The I&B Ministry’s decision
to ban the 18 OTT platforms was taken under the provisions of the Information
Technology Act, 2000, |

The Lok Sabha polls will be
conducted in seven phases beginning the 19th of next month. The counting will
take place on 4th June. The Election Commission also announced
the poll schedule for the assembly polls in Sikkim, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal

Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Prime
Minister Narendra Modi formally launched the Scheme on 13 February 2024. PM Surya Ghar
Muft Bijli Yojana is a rooftop solar project encouraging households to
install solar panels. These households will receive 330 units of free electricity per month. The
government proposes to invest over Rs 75,000 crores in the yojana. Urban Local
Bodies and Panchayats will be incentivised to encourage households in their
jurisdiction to install rooftop solar systems. |

Pradesh has become the first state to issue 5 crore Ayushman cards. Cards are
issued under the Centre’s flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan
Arogya Yojana. |
Ayushman
Bharat Ayushman Bharat is a
government-led healthcare scheme launched on September 23, 2018, based on the recommendations of
the National Health Policy 2017. The scheme aims to achieve
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and has two main components: the PM-JAY program and Health and Wellness
Centers. The scheme is designed to
provide coverage for over 10 crore impoverished and vulnerable families,
which is approximately 50 crore individuals. It offers up to 5 lakh rupees per family per year specifically
for secondary and tertiary hospitalization care. Ayushman Bharat - National
Health Protection Mission will replace the existing centrally sponsored
schemes, namely the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and the Senior
Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS). |

to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. |
CPI It
measures price changes from the perspective of a retail buyer.
It is released by the National Statistical Office
(NSO). Base Year for CPI is 2012. In April 2014, the Reserve
Bank of India (RBI) had
adopted the CPI as its key measure of inflation. Four types of CPI are as
follows: o CPI for Industrial
Workers (IW). o CPI for Agricultural
Labourer (AL). o CPI for Rural Labourer
(RL). o CPI
(Rural/Urban/Combined). o Of these, the first
three are compiled by the Labour
Bureau in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Fourth is compiled by
the NSO in the Ministry of
