1	MARCH 16-National Vaccination Day. In 1988, the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Polio Eradication Initiative was started as the first step of eradicating the disease from the planet. In 1995, on the same day, the government of India started the pulse polio Immunisation Programme as the first attempt of eradicating the disease from the country. 2	Gyanesh Kumar, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu take charge as Election Commissioners. A search committee led by the Union Law Minister prepares a shortlist, as per the current procedure. Article 324 of the Constitution provides that the power of superintendence, direction, and control of elections to parliament, state legislatures, the office of the president of India, and the office of vice-president of India shall be vested in the election commission.
3	The Department of Pharmaceuticals has notified the Uniform Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP) 2024, which aims to curb unethical marketing practices by pharmaceutical companies.
4	India’s consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation eased to 5.09 percent in February 2024, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.	CPI It measures price changes from the perspective of a retail buyer. It is released by the National Statistical Office (NSO). Base Year for CPI is 2012. In April 2014, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had adopted the CPI as its key measure of inflation. Four types of CPI are as follows: o    CPI for Industrial Workers (IW). o    CPI for Agricultural Labourer (AL). o    CPI for Rural Labourer (RL). o    CPI (Rural/Urban/Combined). o    Of these, the first three are compiled by the Labour Bureau in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Fourth is compiled by the NSO in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
5	Prasar Bharati launched PB-SHABD, a news-sharing service designed to provide daily news feeds in various formats to media organizations. The launch event, held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, was presided over by Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur. 6	The High level Committee on Simultaneous Elections constituted under the Chairmanship of Shri Ram Nath Kovind, former President of India, met the Hon’ble President of India, Shrimati Droupadi Murmu, and submitted its Report. The Report, comprising 18,626 pages, is an outcome of extensive consultations with stakeholders, experts and research work of 191 days, since its constitution on 2 September, 2023. “One Nation, One Election”, means holding elections to Lok Sabha, all state Legislative Assemblies, and urban and rural local bodies (municipalities and panchayats) at the same time	One Nation One Election Committee under former President -Ramnath Kovin
7	Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurates the newly-constructed Headquarters of the Indian Navy ‘Nausena Bhawan’ at Delhi Cantt.	The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces officially established on 26 January 1950. Admiral Radhakrishna Hariram Tahiliani was the first Indian Chief of Naval Staff. The invocation to Lord Varuna (The Sea God) in the Vedas was adopted by the Indian Navy for its emblem, with the Motto: “Sam no Varunah”, meaning: “Be auspicious unto us Oh Varuna”. India celebrates Indian Navy Day every year on December 4 as an anniversary of the Indo-Pakistan attack.
8	The Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated a credit assistance program for Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAK), aiming to enhance accessibility to affordable medicines across India.	Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
